Leadership, Opportunity and the Power of “Give to Gain”

In the Women’s Day edition of Bizweek, Anouchka Saddul, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at MauBank, shared her perspectives on leadership, gender representation and the evolving role of women in shaping organisations and society.

Reflecting on this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” she highlighted the principle of mutual investment between individuals and institutions. When women contribute their talent, leadership and ideas, and when organisations create the conditions for opportunity and inclusion, both individuals and institutions grow stronger together.

Drawing from her professional journey across the public and private sectors, she emphasised that progress in gender equality requires more than formal frameworks. It calls for sustained commitment to removing structural barriers, expanding leadership pathways and ensuring that women’s contributions are recognised and translated into meaningful participation at decision-making levels.

Key insights from the interview include:

  • The principle of “Give to Gain”
Empowerment is a shared dynamic where women contribute through leadership, collaboration and innovation, while institutions invest in opportunity, development and inclusive cultures.
  • The importance of representation in leadership
While women are strongly present in education and the workforce, their representation at senior decision-making levels remains limited, highlighting the need for stronger pathways into leadership.
  • Moving from intention to implementation
Progress in gender equality increasingly depends on consistent institutional commitment, succession planning and policies that enable women to advance and lead.

Through conversations like these, MauBank continues to support dialogue around inclusive leadership, opportunity and sustainable progress.
